1. CHEMICAL PRODUCT

  • Product name: HFA - 700
  • Product type: Pour point de-pressant
  • Product description: Ash-less polymeric additive which is effective in light intermediate fuels, some heavy fuels and crude oils.

2. COMPOSITION/ INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS

  • - Olefin-alkyl ester copolymer
  • - Heavy aromatic solvent
  • - Other substances

3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Human health: Low hazard. Material can form flammable mixtures or can burn only upon heating to temperatures at or above the flashpoint. Toxic gases will form upon combustion. Static discharge. Product can accumulate static charges which can cause an incendiary electrical discharge.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

  • On skin: Remove splashes on the skin with a lot of water and soap. Remove grossly contaminated clothing including shoes and launder before reuse.
  • In eyes: Remove contact lenses and rinse immediately with soft water stream for several minutes. Keep the eyelids wide apart.

  • If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting. Drink milk or water. If large quantities have been swallowed,

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

  • Extinguishing media: Use water spray jet, foam, carbon dioxide, dry chemical.
  • Protective clothing: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

  • Cleaning up: Dike and absorb spill with inert materials and collect for disposal in accordance with federal, state or other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Environmental Precautions: Avoid runoff into storm sewers and ditches which lead to water-ways.
  • Personal precaution: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear appropriate protective equipment.

  • Handling: Ensure good ventilation/suction at the workplace. Avoid open flames and sources of ignition. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

  • Ingestion: minimal toxicity
  • Skin contact: low order of toxicity. Frequent or prolonged contact may de-fat and dry the skin, leading to discomfort and dermatitis.
  • Inhalation: negligible hazard at ambient temperature (-18 to 38 ºC). Irritating to respiratory tract in high concentrations. Avoid breathing vapours or mists.
  • Eye contact: Irritating. Will cause slight eye discomfort, but will not injure eye tissue.
