4. FIRST AID MEASURES

On skin: Remove contaminated clothing immediately and drench affected skin with plenty of water. Then wash with soap and water. Contaminated clothing should be laundered before reuse..
SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IF IRRITATION PERSISTS.

In eyes: If substance has got into eyes, immediately wash out with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Irrigate eyes thoroughly whilst lifting eyelids.
MEDICAL ATTENTION SHOULD BE SOUGHT IMMEDIATELY

If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting because of risk of aspiration into the lungs. If aspiration is suspected obtain immediate medical attention. Rinse mouth with water (do not swallow). Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
MEDICAL ATTENTION SHOULD BE SOUGHT IMMEDIATELY

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, oxygen should be given by a trained person. Administer artificial respiration if breathing is stopped. Keep at rest.
MEDICAL ATTENTION SHOULD BE SOUGHT IMMEDIATELY

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

  • use water, foam, carbon dioxide, dry chemical (S43)
  • do not use water jets
  • may give off noxious and toxic fumes in a fire
  • vapours are heavier than air and may travel considerable
  • distances to a source of ignition and flashback
  • in the event of an adjacent fire, cool containers with water spray
  • wear chemical protection suit and positive-pressure breathing apparatus

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

  • wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection (S36/37/39)
  • wear suitable respiratory protection
  • shut off all ignition sources
  • absorb spill in suitable inert material
  • ventilate the area and wash spill site after material pick-up is complete
  • Do not allow to enter public sewers and watercourses

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling:

  • Do not breathe vapour (S23)
  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes
  • Use only in well ventilated areas (S51)
  • When using do not eat, drink or smoke (S20/21)
  • Keep away from heat and sources of ignition
  • Take precautionary measures against static discharges (S33)

Storage:

  • Keep only in the original container (S49)
  • Keep container tightly closed, in a cool, well ventilated place
  • Keep away from heat (S15)
  • Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking (S16)
  • Ensure strict stock rotation

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/ PERSONAL PROTECTION

  • Wear neoprene or nitryl gloves, boots and apron
  • Wear goggles giving complete eye protection
  • Wear approved respirator if exposure likely to exceed MEL/OES
  • Engineering controls should be provided which maintain airborne concentrations below the relevant guidelines
  • In poorly ventilated areas or confined spaces, use an airline respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus
  • Use good personal hygiene practices
