1. CHEMICAL PRODUCT

  • Product name: HFA 4110
  • Product type: CFPP improver.
  • Product description: combination of olefin derivatives in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent which is extremely effective as a flow improver and pour point depressant in middle distillates.

3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

  • Human health: R10 Flammable. R22 Harmful if swallowed. R36/38 Irritating to eyes and skin. R51/53 Toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. R65 Swallowing can cause lung damage.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

  • On skin: Remove contaminated clothing immediately and drench affected skin with plenty of water. Then wash with soap and water. Contaminated clothing should be laundered before re-use.
    SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IF IRRITATION PERSISTS
  • In eyes: If substance has got into eyes, immediately wash out with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Irrigate eyes thoroughly while lifting eyelids.
    MEDICAL ATTENTION SHOULD BE SOUGHT IMMEDIATELY
  • If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting because of risk of aspiration into the lungs. If aspiration is suspected obtain immediate medical attention. Rinse mouth with water (do not swallow). Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
    MEDICAL ATTENTION SHOULD BE SOUGHT IMMEDIATELY
  • Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Administer artificial respiration if breathing is stopped. Keep at rest.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

  • Extinguishing media: Use water, foam, carbon dioxide, dry chemical (S43)
  • Protective Clothing: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

  • Cleaning up: Dike and absorb spill with inert materials and collect for disposal in accordance with federal, state or other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Environmental Precautions: Avoid runoff into storm sewers and ditches which lead to water-ways.
  • Personal precaution: Avoid contact with skin and eyes; Ensure adequate ventilation; Shut off all ignition sources; Wear appropriate protective equipment.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

  • Handling: Ensure good ventilation/suction at the workplace. Avoid open flames and sources of ignition. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • Storage: Ensure that storage and workrooms are adequately ventilated.
  • Packaging material: SS, Epoxy coatings, HDPE.

  • Engineering measures: Access to eye wash fountain.
  • Personal protection: Safety goggles. Protective gloves at prolonged or repeated exposure. Wear approved respirator if exposure likely to exceed MEL/OES.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

  • Stability: Stable under normal conditions. Insoluble in water. May decompose on exposure to heat. In fire CO/CO2 may be generated.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

  • This information is based on knowledge of the present substances and on E.C. toxicological data from similar substances.
  • Toxicological data: Oral rat LD50> 8150 mg/kg. Primary skin irritation (rabbit): non irritating. Primary mucous membrane: non irritating.
  • Ingestion: Minimal toxicity
  • Skin contact: LD50 dermal/rat > 3200 mg/kg. Can cause dehydration of the skin.
  • Inhalation: LC50 rat/4h > 5mg/l
  • Eye contact: Mildly irritating. Will cause slight eye discomfort, but will not injure eye tissue.
